Deputy Prosecutor General and head of the National Investigative Service (NIS) Borislav Sarafov submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) a request to dismiss Yassen Todorov from the post of NIS deputy director, the Service told BTA.

In an interview for Bulgarian National Radio on May 9, Sarafov reported that he is considering asking the SJC to have his deputy in the NIS replaced, adding: "His media appearances reflect his own views and have not been coordinated with me or the National Investigative Service".

Todorov was appointed to the post by the SJC's Prosecutors Chamber at the suggestion of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev in late 2021.
