The distances between Bulgaria and Turkiye are negligibly small, which creates opportunities for the two countries to develop their bilateral business relations, Dr Boyko Takov, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, said at the opening of a business forum here on Thursday. In his words, every producer needs not only to export their products but also to import machines, materials, and so on. In this context, Turkiye could play a key role for Bulgarian production.

The forum was held at the Agency's initiative so that representatives of Turkish companies from various economic sectors could meet with Bulgarian colleagues and discuss future partnerships.

Addressing the guests, Takov said that Bulgaria’s ties with Turkiye are particularly important, especially in the context of all problems experienced in the last years with disrupted and, in some parts, interrupted supply chains.

Thursday’s forum was part of a series of events organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency together with the Turkish Embassy in Sofia and the Bulgarian-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The next Bulgarian-Turkish forum will be held in the Bansko mountain resort from June 9 to 11.
