Lyudmila Petkova and Rositza Velkova-Jeleva were appointed deputy finance ministers by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, the government information service said on Monday.
Lyudmila Petkova has over 30 years' experience in tax policy and public finance management. She was deputy finance minister (2013-2014, September-December 2021 and August 2022-June 2023). She headed the Finance Ministry's Tax Policy Directorate in 2014-2021. Petkova was deputy prime minister and finance minister in Dimitar Glavchev's caretaker cabinets in April-August 2024 and August-January 2025.
Rositza Velkova's career at the Ministry of Finance began in 1993. Between 2001 and November 2017, she headed the Sustainable Economic Development Division within the State Expenditure Directorate. In 2008-2009, she represented Bulgaria in the UNESCO group of financial experts and on the Financial Committee dealing with budgetary, financial and administrative issues. She served as deputy finance minister between November 2017 and April 2021 and again between December 2021 and August 2022. She was caretaker finance minister in the governments of prime minister Galab Donev between August 2022 and February 2023, and again between February and June 2023.
On May 8, Metodi Metodiev was appointed deputy minister of finance, along with 17 more deputy ministers.
