In a Facebook post published on Saturday night, Rumen Radev, president of Bulgaria between 2017 and 2026, expressed hope that reason will prevail and that military action in the Middle East will cease as soon as possible. He said that a destructive war in the region would pose a huge threat to international peace and security, especially for Europe.

Radev wrote: "It is extremely worrying that diplomacy is increasingly giving way to force in the resolution of international disputes. [...] Whatever the contradictions in the region, they should be resolved through diplomacy."

On Saturday morning, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and the US are jointly striking Iran. In response, Iran launched a missile attack against the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as well as against Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, and the UAE.

Esmail Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Iran, said that Tehran was forced to strike the source of aggression against the country, warning that any point in the region used by the US against Iran would be a legitimate target for the Islamic Republic, as reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA.
