Central Government Sub-Sector Reports Deficit of EUR 208 Mln in December 2025

In December 2025, the Central Government sub-sector recorded revenues of BGN 8.475 billion (EUR 4.333 billion) and expenditures of BGN 8.883 billion (EUR 4.541 billion), while the Social Security Funds sub-sector reported revenues of BGN 3.385 billion (EUR 1.730 billion) and expenditures of BGN 3.380 billion (EUR 1.728 billion), the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on its website on Wednesday.

According to NSI data, both the Central Government and Social Security Funds sub-sectors moved out of deficit in November 2025. In that month, Central Government revenues amounted to BGN 6.9 billion (EUR 3.5 billion) and expenditures to BGN 6.6 billion (nearly EUR 3.4 billion). For the Social Security Funds sub-sector, revenues totalled BGN 3.2 billion (EUR 1.6 billion) and expenditures BGN 3.03 billion (EUR 1.5 billion).

At the beginning of the year, Central Government revenues stood at BGN 4.8 billion (EUR 2.4 billion) and expenditures at BGN 4.9 billion (EUR 2.5 billion), while the Social Security Funds sub-sector reported revenues of BGN 2.8 billion (EUR 1.4 billion) and expenditures of BGN 2.6 billion (EUR 1.3 billion).

The data for the Central Government sub-sector are formed on the basis of the monthly cash statements of the budget units, as well as on estimates of the state enterprises reclassified in the sub-sector, and the data for the Social Security Funds sub-sector are formed on the basis of the monthly cash statements of the National Insurance Institute and the National Health Insurance Fund.
