Bulgarian snowboarder Malena Zamfirova won the FIS European Cup women's parallel giant slalom in Bansko after beating Italy's Sofia Valle in the big final on Tuesday.

In the men's parallel giant slalom, Bulgaria's Alexander Krashniak finished second. In the big final, Krashniak was overtaken by Ryusuke Shinohara of Japan.

Zamfirova and Krashniak thus added to an already remarkable performance of the Bulgarian snowboard team in World Cup races in Bansko in recent days.

The team's success in front of a home crowd has fuelled optimism for a strong performance at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina (Italy), which will take place from February 6 to 22.
