Grigor Dimitrov was eliminated in the second round of the Brisbane ATP 250 hard court tennis tournament in Australia on Thursday. Dimitrov lost to Belgian qualifier Raphael Collignon 6–7 (1), 3–6 after one hour and 49 minutes on court.
Collignon, Belgium's second-ranked player, who is set to compete against Bulgaria in the Davis Cup team tournament, has secured his place in the quarterfinals, where he will face American Brendan Nakashima.
Dimitrov, who won the competition in 2017 and 2024, reached the semi-finals in Brisbane last season.
The 34-year-old Bulgarian started strongly against the 23-year-old Collignon, taking a 2–1 lead. However, he struggled with his first serve, making a total of 32 unforced errors. One break was enough for Collignon to secure victory.
