Shaping the future of tourism by addressing evolving challenges, inclusive tourism, and the impact on local communities are among the leading topics that travel agents and tour operators from across Europe discussed on Tuesday, in Rabat, Morocco. The meeting of the European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Associations (ECTAA) took place on November 17 and 18 in the increasingly popular destination with great tourism potential, the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators and Travel Agents (ABTTA) said in a press release on Tuesday. The association was represented by Daniela Stoeva, Executive Board Member of the European Committee of Travel Agents.

Participants in the meeting focused on several key areas related to shaping the future of tourism: discussions on coping with pressure on the environment, the social effects of unbalanced tourism, digital transformation and sustainable development. The need for adaptation and cooperation for the benefit of travellers, businesses, and communities, were discussed. Inclusive tourism and local impact, the role of tourism companies in providing accessible travel for people with physical difficulties and supporting local communities through sustainable practices were key topics in the discussion. Artificial intelligence in travel was also the focus, with an analysis of how it changes travel planning and personalization, influences consumer behaviour, and transforms the distribution of tourism services. The recognition of the expertise of travel consultants, the adaptation of business models for long-term sustainability, and the opportunities offered by automated payment solutions for greater efficiency and better risk management were also discussed.

As a member of ECTAA, ABTTA actively contributes to the process through expert opinions that help shape the national position on legislative changes. The Association has not only been monitoring but also consistently participating in the process by preparing and proposing amendments, the organization said.

"It is crucial for Bulgarian tour operators not only to wait for the adoption of these fundamental documents, but also to actively participate in the discussion. We strive to be a corrective force and to protect the interests of both our members and all Bulgarian tour operators and travel agents to the maximum extent possible," Stoeva was quoted as saying in the press release.
