1941: Bulgaria declares war on Britain and the United States during World War II (1939-1945).

1950: The Order of Cyril and Methodius is instituted.

1991: Diplomatic relations are established with Ukraine.

2002: The Copenhagen European Council sets 2007 as the target year for Bulgaria's and Romania's EU accession.

1880: Second National Assembly passes Supreme Audit Office Act.

1955: Bulgaria becomes member of United Nations.

1989: Union of Disabled People is established.

1989: Protestors demanding repeal of constitutional provision on Communist Party's dominant role form human chain around Parliament building. Provision repealed January 15, 1990.

2000: Bulgaria's Cabinet decides to establish diplomatic relations with Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Suriname and Haiti.
