A traveling exhibition of the sixth Varna International Ex Libris Competition will open in Novi Pazar on Thursday, Municipal Gallery Director Borislava Borisova told BTA.

The exhibition will display bookplates by 178 artists from all over the world, placed in 16 framed panels.

The bookplate is a small graphic work that was originally created as a sign that is placed on a book to indicate ownership.

"Today it is an independent art form in which a symbol, an idea and a personality meet", Borisova pointed out.

Two accompanying exhibitions by Ukrainian artist Konstantin Kalinovich and Bulgarian graphic artist Hristo Naydenov will also be presented, with the audience having the opportunity to see twenty of their works, Borisova added.

The exhibitions are organized by the Largo Gallery and Jordan Petkov Art Foundation and will remain on display in Novi Pazar until February 9.
