Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) – New Beginning will challenge in court the expansion of paid parking zones and the increase of parking fees in Sofia, the party’s press centre said on Monday.

"The actions of Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev and the Sofia Municipal Council are an arrogant demonstration against the people of Sofia, and this increase does not solve a single problem of parking and traffic in the capital," MRF - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski stressed, quoted in the press statement, noting that the the Euro Introduction Act does not allow such price increases.

On November 13, the Sofia Municipal Council decided to expand the scope of paid parking zones on the territory of the capital from January 5, 2026, and to increase the prices of parking fees. The prices for hourly parking in the blue zone will be EUR 2 per hour and EUR 1 per hour in the green zone.
