In the coming months, a cosmetic dermatology office will open at the medical center of the Five Elements hotel in Sapareva Banya, the complex’s manager, Vesela Bogdanova, told BTA. She said the range of advanced facial therapies using innovative technologies will be expanded, with dermatology consultations to be introduced soon for guests.
Daniela Petrova, manager of the hotel’s Jala Spa Center, added that visitors already have access to a kinesiotherapist and a physical therapist offering free check-ups.
Sapareva Banya’s mineral water is rich in sulfur and is particularly beneficial for the skin, supporting high-quality facial treatments, including those using French cosmetics and newly introduced аппарат-based procedures.
The town’s geyser spring, reaching 103°C, is unique in Europe. Beyond its proven benefits for musculoskeletal conditions and skin health, outdoor bathing - even in winter - can aid in the prevention of flu in both children and adults, Bogdanova noted.
Short-term plans include completing the complex’s modernization with heat pump systems to maintain water temperature in colder months and ensure operations even with reduced mineral water flow. A major renovation of the Kotvata Aqua Club is underway, along with an expansion of the thermal zone with new spa facilities.
Despite being only five years old, the hotel has won several awards, including Best City SPA Hotel and a 2025 employer branding award. It is also undergoing certification for the international “Green Key” sustainability label, currently held by just 11 hotels in Bulgaria.
In the first three months of the year, the hotel welcomed over 5,000 visitors, up from 4,773 during the same period last year.
Located at the foot of the Rila Mountains, about an hour from Sofia and 40 minutes from the Rila Lakes, the area attracts visitors with its mineral springs, clean mountain air, and natural scenery.
BTA presents news from certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centres in Bulgaria in its BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water feature. Their total number exceeds 200. The initiative, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, is linked to Europe's leading health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, which will be held from May 11 to 13, 2026, in Varna, Sts. Constantine and Helena, Golden Sands, and Albena. BTA will be the event's main media partner.
