The Bulgarian Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov, took part in the Annual Conference of Chiefs of European Navies (CHENS 2025) in Riga, Latvia, on May 7 and 8, the Bulgarian Navy said in a press release on Friday. The Chiefs of European Navies discussed the aspects of their cooperation as well as matters related to the European and global security. The main topic was the increasing role of unmanned systems in maritime affairs.
Within the conference, Rear Admiral Mihaylov held working meetings with the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, Vice Admiral Giuseppe Bergotto, the Commander of NATO's Allied Maritime Command, Vice Admiral Mike Utley, the Commander of the French Navy, Rear Admiral Vincent Gregoire, the Chief of the Belgian Navy, Divisional Admiral Tanguy Botman, the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy, Vice Admiral Rene Tas, the representative of the United Kingdom, Major General Paul Maynard, and with the Commander of the Turkish Navy, Admiral Ercument Tatlioglu. Issues of mutual interest were discussed in this format, the press release said.
