Bulgarian gymnasts won a total of six medals four gold and two bronze at the 3rd Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior World Championships, held in Sofia.
The Bulgarian group, consisting of Raya Bozhilova, Yoana Moteva, Anania Dimitrova, Gabriela Traykova, Ivayla Velkovska, and Elena Hristova, claimed two golds and one bronze, as well as the team title together with individual competitors Magdalena Valkova, Aleksa Rasheva, and Anastasia Kaleva.
The gymnasts triumphed in the all-around, successfully defending their title from Cluj-Napoca 2023. Coached by Kristina Ilieva and Zhanina Ivanova, the group scored 26.600 points in the 5 hoops final (11.000 for difficulty, 8.150 for artistry, 7.450 for execution), winning gold. They also secured bronze in the 5 pairs of clubs final with 24.150 points (9.200 difficulty, 8.000 artistry, 6.950 execution).
Valkova, Rasheva, and Kaleva contributed to the team gold alongside the group. Valkova in the individual finals won gold in hoop with a score of 27.350 and bronze in ribbon with 25.500. Anastasia Kaleva competed in the clubs final but finished eighth with 22.200 after some mistakes.
Bulgaria matched its six-medal achievement from the 2023 World Championships in Cluj-Napoca, which included three golds and three silvers.
This year's championship featured a record 68 participating countries. The event was attended by FIG President Morinari Watanabe.
