Emma Neikova won bronze at the Saber Junior World Cup Tunisia 2024 in Hammamet on Saturday. The Bulgarian earned a spot on the podium amid 144 sabre fencers representing 24 countries.

Neikova shares the third spot with Siobhan Sullivan from the US. The gold and silver went to Mariella Viale from Italy and Magda Skarbonkiewicz from the US respectively. The other two Bulgarians at the event, Kalina Atanasova and Vasilena Krasteva, finished 36th and 100th respectively.

Neikova came out of the groups with five wins and one loss, having injured her thumb early on. In the eliminations, the Svechnikov Fencing Club alumna defeated Cloe Lebeaume of France 15-5 and again had to contend with a physical problem after taking a hard blow to the elbow of her dominant arm.

On her way to the podium, Neikova defeated Samira Shokirova from Uzbekistan 15-13, individual neutral athlete Polina Mishakina 15-12 and Amalia Covaliu from Romania 15-14.

Neikova's successful run was cut by the number one seed Skarbonkiewicz after an even bout that finishes with a 14-15 score.

The team events are taking place on Sunday.
