The weather conditions for hiking in the mountains are bad on Saturday, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) told BTA.

There is snow cover, moderate to strong wind, and in the highest parts of the mountains, there is fog. The MRS said that every prerequisite of getting lost in the mountains is there. Temperatures in the highest parts of the mountains are reaching minus 5C, with a danger of freezing. 

Lift facilities in the mountain resorts are not working. There were no incidents with tourists over the past 24 hours. 

An orange code for significant amounts of rain and snow has been announced for two regions of the country on Saturday - Blagoevgrad and Smolyan, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) said. Yellow warning code has been issued for 11 regions of the country - Vidin, Vratsa, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Plovdiv, Sofia city, and Sofia region.
