The most successful Bulgarian badminton player in history Petya Nedelcheva was inducted in the Guinness Book of World Records on Monday. She is credited for her participation in the longest badminton rally in a competitive match - 154 strokes.

"The longest badminton rally in a competitive match is 154 strokes during the third set by Petya Nedelcheva (Bulgaria) and Anastasia Russkikh (Russia) versus Shizuka Matsuo and Mami Naito (both Japan) in the second round of the 2010 Swiss Open in Basel, Switzerland, on 18 March 2010," said the official announcement of the Guinness Book of World Records.

Nedelcheva is currently the head coach of the Bulgarian national team. She is the Bulgarian badminton player with most titles won and took part in three Summer Olympics - Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. She has won the European Cup six times and has reached a number of European Championship quarter-finals during her singles career.

Starting in 2009 Nedelcheva began playing doubles with Russkikh. As a team, they won a silver medal from the 2010 European Championships in Manchester. The pair went on to reach third place in the badminton world rankings.

In total, Nedelcheva has over 60 tournament titles in her career.
