The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour have called off a protest they had planned to hold outside the Council of Ministers on Friday, the CITUB said Thursday.
The decision came after the Joint Governance Council announced that the minimum monthly wage will be set at EUR 620 in 2026, in line with the Labour Code, which says that the minimum wage must be 50% of the national average.
The trade unions said that they would provide additional updates on any additional actions related to the 2026 state budget.
Following an extraordinary meeting of the Joint Governance Council earlier on Thursday, GERB-UDF Deputy Floor Leader Denitsa Sacheva said that the Council had reached an agreement on key parameters in the 2026 budgets: the State Budget and the budgets of the National Health Insurance Fund and the Public Social Insurance.
