Vice President Iliana Iotova Monday addressed medical staff at the Military Medical Academy on the occasion of its 134th anniversary. "Without noise, without fanfare, without shouting, without offensive words, and without rest, you restore the most important thing in this world - hope," she said.
Attending the celebration were the Academy's Director, Major General Prof. Dr Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, Chief of Defence Admiral Eftim Evtimov, Health Minister Silvi Kirilov, Deputy Defence Minister Adelina Nikolova, doctors, medical specialists and cadets.
In its 134-year history, Bulgarian military doctors have faced the most challenging battles, from the front lines to modern crises, Iotova said. "You are the first to respond not only to natural disasters and missions abroad, but also to pandemics and many of the challenges facing humanity today. You are always on the front line," the Vice President said.
She highlighted the academy's rich history, shaped by human lives, and thanked its staff, saying that each individual deserves recognition. She noted that over the years, the Military Medical Academy has not only set new standards for national healthcare but has become a centre for innovation, training and advanced technology.
Earlier in the day, official guests at the event laid floral tributes at the monument to medical officers who died in the line of duty.
