On Tuesday, North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski presented a proposal for government changes to parliament. The changes became necessary after Izet Mexhiti, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment, won the mayoral election in the Skopje municipality of Cair.

Mickoski has proposed that Bekim Sali, who served as health minister of Dimitar Kovacevski's government, assume Mexhiti's role and also take on the position of Minister for European Affairs. According to media reports, the current Minister for European Affairs, Orhan Murtezani, is set to become the country's ambassador in Brussels.

In an interview for the 360 Degrees television programme, Mickoski confirmed that Muhamed Hoxha has been named as the new Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning.

According to the Prime Minister, there will be no changes to ministers from the ruling VMRO-DPMNE or its coalition partner, ZNAM, for the time being. However, he expects the government to be "refreshed" after the VMRO-DPMNE congress in December, likely in the spring.
