Two parks in Kyustendil will be improved with European funds, Mayor Ognyan Atanasov said on Monday.
He pointed out that the park at the cooperative market in Kyustendil, which was forgotten in recent decades, will be greened and flower alleys will be created, adding that a drip irrigation system will also be built. "We hope that after the completion of the project, the park will be used for many years as a place for recreation and rest for the town's residents and guests", Atanasov emphasized.
The Ezerata park will also be improved and renovated under the same project. "You know that this year the lakes in this park were reopened, now we want to upgrade the project. In this regard, planting of new trees, shrubs and flower gardens is planned," the mayor said. The two projects have identical activities, aiming for Kyustendil to have more similar green and colorful places to relax, so that the town can increasingly establish itself as a preferred tourist destination.
The projects are financed by the cross-border cooperation programme Bulgaria - Republic of North Macedonia. The lead partner in the project is the Kyustendil Municipality, and it is being implemented in cooperation with Kumanovo Municipality and the Centre for the Development of the Third Northeast Region in the Republic of North Macedonia. The project includes the creation of a tourist website in the Kumanovo Municipality and training for the employees of the local administrations in Kumanovo and Kyustendil to specialize in green architecture.
