A new automotive parts plant of China's Shanghai Unison Aluminium Products Co.,Ltd. opened in Trakia Economic Zone on Wednesday. Deputy Prime Minister and Innovation and Growth Minister Tomislav Donchev said at the inauguration he believes firmly that the foundation for successful economic development is industry, as it is the base from which everything else can be built: high value-added services and related manufacturing.

The ZS Europe project is considered the first Chinese industrial investment in Bulgaria. The plant is planned to manufacture aluminium components for the automotive industry and to create 100 jobs. Currently, a production building covering 1.2 hectares has been completed and put into operation, with an investment of BGN 18.7 million. A second production building is under construction on 1 hectare, with the entire plant eventually occupying 3.5 hectares.

According to Donchev, Bulgaria is increasingly integrating into global markets, the country's goal being the production of finished goods.

He added that Bulgaria has four or five zones with concentrated industrial production and Plovdiv hosts Trakia Economic Zone, the largest one in terms of scale and experience.

The official guests included the company's Chairman/President, Luo Shibing, Trakia Economic Zone CEO Plamen Panchev, Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov and Vladimir Temelkov, Deputy Mayor for Digitalization, European Policies, Business Development and Education.
