The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) held a public meeting to look into a proposal by Bulgargaz, the public gas supplier, for an increase of the price of natural gas by nearly 8% in November. The regulator will make a decision on the gas price at a closed meeting scheduled for Thursday.

Bulgargaz EAD proposes that the price of natural gas for the coming month be BGN 65.82/ MWh or 33.65 EUR/MWh (excluding access, transmission, excise, and VAT charges).

The proposed price for end suppliers and for licensed producers and transmitters of heat energy is 7.88% higher than the price for October — 61.01 BGN/MWh (31.19 EUR/MWh).

The company notes that with the onset of the autumn-winter season, customer orders have increased significantly. For November, the requested quantities are 900,000 MWh more than in October, which reduces the relative share of cheaper Azerbaijani gas deliveries in the price mix.

According to Bulgargaz Executive Director Veselin Sinabov, the planned quantities of natural gas are currently being unloaded at the Alexandroupolis gas terminal. He stated that gas prices in the coming months are expected to remain at the same levels as those for November.
