site.btaBulgarian Foreign Ministry Issues Travel Advisory amid Adverse Weather Conditions in Austria

Heavy snowfall has complicated the meteorological situation in Austria, the Situation Centre of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry reported on its website on Friday. The Ministry advised Bulgarian citizens to travel to Austria only if necessary.

Traffic on main roads in the provinces of Upper Austria, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Burgenland, and Vienna is disrupted. Flights to and from the Austrian capital, Vienna, have been canceled or rerouted.

The Ministry recommends that Bulgarian citizens currently in or planning to visit Austria in the coming days travel only for essential purposes and use vehicles properly equipped for winter conditions.

Information on road conditions is available through the Austrian Automobile Club website, while flight status can be checked on the relevant airlines’ websites or the official websites of Vienna airports.
