site.btaAgriculture Minister Tahov: Euro Is the Currency of Stability, Trust and Predictability
The euro is the currency of stability, trust and predictability, Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov said Wednesday at an informational meeting on the euro in Dobrich, Northeastern Bulgaria, part of the nationwide information campaign for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.
Bulgaria’s accession to the euro area will improve access to international markets, strengthen the competitiveness of domestic agriculture, and lower administrative costs for businesses. It also sends clearly signals that Bulgaria is a reliable economic partner within the European Union and internationally, Tahov said.
Joining the euro area will bring real benefits for businesses and citizens. We will have greater price transparency, facilitated trade, as well as easier access to investments, Tahov explained at the meeting. The accession to the Eurozone will accelerate reforms in the sectors of administration, public finance, and services, increasing institutional efficiency.
Tahov confirmed that the currency change will not impact the funds allocated to Bulgaria's Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas 2023-2027 or the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund 2021–2027 Programme, as these budgets were planned in euros.
He further noted that the euro will provide more opportunities for business and especially for farmers across the EU.
