Gabrovo Municipality will develop joint initiatives with the Cultural Centre of Bucharest, Gabrovo Mayor Tanya Hristova told BTA on Friday during a visit to the centre, which is known as Hanul Gabroveni.

Hristova thanked Bulgarian Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov for the support for this visit and pointed out that the cultural centre is located on one of the streets significant for the connection between Gabrovo and Bucharest. She recalled that Hanul Gabroveni was a former inn, which is connected to the history of Gabrovo merchants, who were part of the most turbulent stage of Bucharest’s life more than a century ago.

“We promised ourselves to come again very soon, this time with people who will work together with us on the path of the European Capital of Culture initiative. And the team of the cultural centre here in Bucharest enthusiastically shared that they have a lot of experience in this procedure,” Hristova emphasized.

She added that Gabrovo Municipality will participate in the tourism exhibition in Bucharest in 2025. "The number of Romanian tourists who have visited us is increasing. We are making efforts to make our region hospitable and attractive to them. For several years now, the Municipality's website has also been translated into Romanian", she noted.
