The employment rate for people aged 20 to 64 in the European Union reached 76.2% in the second quarter of 2025, compared to 76.1% in the first quarter, Eurostat reported. For Bulgaria, this share is 77.2% compared to 77.1% in the first quarter, which represents a symbolic increase.
Between the first and second quarters, the largest increases in the employment rate were recorded in Latvia (+1.3 percentage points), Estonia (+0.8 percentage points), and Belgium (+0.7 percentage points). The employment rate remained stable in the Netherlands and Sweden, while a decline was recorded in seven EU countries, with the largest decreases in Hungary (-0.5 percentage points) and Italy (-0.3 percentage points).
