Regular physical activity, combined with balneology and climatotherapy, can help build a healthier and more resilient society, said Health Minister Silvi Kirilov in an official address delivered by Deputy Health Minister Dobromira Kareva during the opening ceremony of the 12th Annual Congress of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism (BUBSPA) here on Tuesday. The congress was held at the Hyatt Regency Pravets Resort in Pravets. The Bulgarian News Agency is a media partner of the event.

Kirilov described the forum as yet another example of BUBSPA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the health status of the population. The Minister emphasized that, thanks to the efforts of BUBSPA, public attention is increasingly focused on the intersection of medicine and nature, working in synergy to promote health and well-being. “Over the years, prevention and prophylaxis have demonstrated their vital role in this process. In combination with medical tourism, they have proven to be key factors not only in improving health outcomes but also in enhancing overall quality of life,” Kirilov said.

One of the main objectives of the Health Ministry is to reduce the risk factors underlying modern diseases. Obesity is among the leading causes, which is why fostering an optimal culture of health and physical activity from an early age, with the help of natural resources, is of utmost importance, the Minister noted.
