The annual maintenance of Unit 6 at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant was completed on Monday. The unit was connected to the country’s power grid at 17:21 following an inspection and a positive assessment from the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the N-plant said in a press release.

During the annual maintenance, which began on 25 October 2025, preventive checks and technical servicing were carried out on the systems and equipment, along with all other necessary activities outlined in the annual maintenance programme. The measures implemented were aimed at enhancing safety and ensuring the long-term operation of the unit. The reactor was reloaded with fresh nuclear fuel for its 31st fuel campaign.

According to the technological regulations, the power ramp-up of Unit 6 is carried out in stages. Unit 5 of the Kozloduy NPP is operating in accordance with the electricity production schedule.

Earlier this summer, Unit 6 was temporarily shut down for scheduled maintenance related to a coolant leak in the third steam generator. The shutdown decision was taken as a conservative measure to ensure the unit’s high safety standards and reliable electricity supply.
