The Commission on Protection of Competition (CPC) presented Friday new measures and procedures for handling confidential information. At an event organized by the Commission, it was announced that special rooms with controlled access have already been set up for processing sensitive data.
CPC Chief Secretary Maria Petrova emphasized that with the new measures, businesses can be confident in the security of information designated as confidential. According to her, the rooms are equipped with permanent video surveillance through specialized servers with double protection and extended storage, which allows for checks and inquiries to be carried out if necessary.
Only three employees in management positions have access to these areas. Work with the information will be carried out under constant video surveillance, with the data being immediately separated and stored in secure cabinets. Access to electronic media is also restricted—only three employees from the specialized administration can upload information to a separate server, isolated from the main server infrastructure. All activities are carried out in an offline environment, and personal devices are not allowed on the premises.
CPC Chair Rosen Karadimov explained that the classification of information as confidential is carried out by the submitter, as the Commission does not have the authority to assess the content. He underlined that the processing and storage of such information is a priority for the Commission and is of great importance to the employer organizations and the Public Council that submit the data. Karadimov said that the separation of the areas cost BGN 25,000, which he described as a reasonable expense given the commission's total budget of BGN 7.7 million.
