Bulgaria’s Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh and Piotr Borys, State Secretary at the Polish Ministry of Sport and Tourism, held a bilateral meeting ahead of an informal gathering of EU Ministers of Tourism under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Tourism Ministry’s press centre said on Tuesday. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in tourism.

Borshosh noted that cooperation between the two ministries has developed steadily since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in November 2021 and the opening of the Bulgarian National Tourism Office in Warsaw in February 2021. During this period, six high-level bilateral visits have taken place, demonstrating the dynamic engagement from both sides.

Poland remains a traditional and strategic target market for Bulgarian tourism. Statistics show that in 2023 over 438,000 Polish tourists visited Bulgaria for leisure, a record number reflecting mutual trust and growing interest.

Recognized as one of the most successful cooperation formats, the countries also organize annual expert meetings to exchange ideas and best practices.

The meeting also covered opportunities for joint advertising campaigns and projects focused on the long-term sustainability of the sector and shared benefits.

Borshosh confirmed Bulgaria’s readiness for lasting cooperation with Poland on all tourism-related issues of mutual interest, both bilaterally and within the European Union framework.
