The total production index in Bulgaria’s service sector fell by 1.6% in February 2025 compared to January, according to preliminary seasonally adjusted data released this week by the National Statistical Institute. Despite the monthly decline, the sector saw a notable annual increase of 5.6% compared to February 2024.
The monthly drop was driven by declines in several key areas: Professional, scientific and technical activities (by 5.8%), Information and communication (5.2%), and Administrative and support services (0.6%). An increase was seen in the following sectors: Real estate (7%), Transportation and storage (1.3%), and Accommodation and food services (0.1%).
Year-on-year, all service sectors posted growth. Real estate led the way with an 18.1% increase, followed by Transportation and storage (7.7%), Administrative and support services (+7.4%), Information and communication (+3.5%), Professional, scientific and technical activities (2.6%), and Accommodation and food services (1.1%).
