site.btaLabour Minister on Idea to Raise Retirement Age: We Should Be Careful with Such Statements

Taking a question about the idea to raise the retirement age in Bulgaria, Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov Monday called for caution when making such statements and then decisions on the subject. Commenting on a draft resolution submitted by MPs of GERB, BSP-United Left, and There Is Such a People in mid-April, he said: "We have six months at our disposal to look at all the reports, to make the necessary analyses and meetings and only then to comment on what should be done in the pension system and how the road map should be made."
The draft resolution obliges the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Ministry of Finance, the National Social Security Institute, the Financial Supervision Commission, and the National Revenue Agency to develop a roadmap for improving the pension model within six months.
Gutsanov expects a decision to be reached soon on finding a consensus on the EU directive on adequate minimum wages.
Gutsanov was approached by journalists while attending the marking of International Workers Memorial Day and World Day for Safety and Health at Work, with laying of wreaths and flowers at the memorial plaque in front of the building of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria.
