Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov voiced the government's full support for the work of the state revenue agencies during a working meeting titled "Budget 2025: Plan and Measures for Revenue Implementation", the Council of Ministers said in a press release on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Deputy Finance Ministers Kiril Ananiev, Metodi Metodiev, and Galya Dimitrova, National Revenue Agency Executive Director Rumen Spetsov, Customs Agency Director Georgi Dimov, as well as deputy directors and regional directors of both agencies.
"You have the full backing of the state," Zhelyazkov assured the participants, noting that public expectations are primarily focused on the expenditure side of the state budget, which in turn is directly linked to the work of the revenue agencies. "You are on the front line of expectations for strong revenues. This year’s plan is extremely ambitious," he emphasized, expressing confidence that through professionalism and dedicated effort, results will be achieved that will silence the sceptics.
The Prime Minister also underlined the cabinet’s commitment to ensuring the necessary conditions for a stable and calm working environment for the revenue agencies. "We are strongly committed to delivering on the goals we have set for this government, goals that much of society supports, and for that, we need the necessary stability," Zhelyazkov added.
On March 21, the Members of Parliament adopted conclusively the 2025 State Budget after a plenary sitting that lasted nearly 22 hours. The budget does not foresee any tax increases and the budget deficit is set at 3% of GDP.
