SPA Complex Alexander in Zlatograd, Southern Bulgaria, is expanding its spa and tourism services by combining balneotherapy, signature treatments, and cultural-historical tourism, the owner and manager Alexander Mitushev told BTA.
The complex is located in the heart of the Zlatograd Ethnographic Complex and offers an experience that combines the charm of Bulgarian Renaissance architecture, modern comfort, and an authentic atmosphere. The area provides opportunities for hiking and fishing tourism, including the nearby fishing and recreation complex Yagnevo, located 13 km from Zlatograd.
Among the new highlights of the hotel is an indoor mineral pool supplied with water sourced near the village of Erma Reka. The water is suitable for skin, joint, and neurological conditions and is comparable to one in the Greek village of Thermes.
The complex is also introducing a signature therapy - Rhodope Zeolite Peeling. Zeolite, known as the 20th century mineral, has antioxidant properties and supports skin regeneration. The procedure includes a steam bath, peeling with an emulsion of olive oil and zeolite, and a relaxing massage.
The spa centre features a sauna, steam bath, Turkish hammam, salt room, hydromassage baths, and a variety of face and body treatments.
The location of Zlatograd allows for a combination of mountain and seaside tourism, and during the summer season, the complex organizes one-day excursions to Northern Greece, including free beach access, walks, and opportunities for relaxation by the sea.
BTA presents news from certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centres in Bulgaria in its BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water feature. Their total number exceeds 200. The initiative, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, is linked to Europe's leading health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, which will be held from May 11 to 13, 2026, in Varna, Sts. Constantine and Helena, Golden Sands, and Albena. BTA will be the event's main media partner.
