site.btaOver 5 Mln People Insured in Pension Funds in 2023

The number of insured people in the four types of pension funds at the end of 2023 was 5,000,945, growing at an annual rate of 1.58%, the Financial Supervision Commission said here on Wednesday.

The largest share of the insured was in the universal pension funds - 80.40%. Persons insured in the voluntary and professional pension funds occupy respectively a share of 12.85% and 6.55%. The share of those insured in voluntary pension funds with occupational schemes is the lowest - 0.20%.

By the end of 2023, beneficiaries were 20,656, of which 2,632 were pensioners and 18,024 were deferred. These are persons who have been insured in the universal pension funds and have reached retirement age.

The average amount of pensions paid out at the end of 2023 was BGN 229.54 and the average amount of deferred payment were BGN 416.55. Compared to the end of 2022, the average amount of pensions paid out increased by BGN 18.62 (8.83%), and the average amount of deferred payment increased by BGN 64.30 (18.25%).
