Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitar Glavchev leaves for Paris on Thursday, where he will participate in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Council Meeting 2024. Prime Minister Glavchev will address the first plenary session, which will discuss achieving a sustainable, inclusive economy and society, as well as evidence-based policy-making on common challenges.

Glavchev’s participation in the Paris forum is yet another confirmation that full membership of the OECD remains among Bulgaria's top foreign policy priorities, enjoying broad political support and unaffected by domestic political dynamics. Currently, 38 countries are members of the OECD, including the most advanced economies of Europe, North America, South America and Asia, accounting for 70% of global production and trade, 90% of global foreign direct investment, and 45% of world GDP.

This year's Ministerial Council Meeting is chaired by Japan, and Mexico and the Netherlands are vice-chairs. The event is under the theme: “Co-Creating the Flow of Change: Leading Global Discussions with Objective and Reliable Approaches Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Growth”. The forum is an opportunity to engage in high-level discussions between member and non-member states on issues that are critical to today's international community.
