A conference, titled Rule of Law and the Business Environment in Bulgaria, will be held in Sofia on January 20, the organizers of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham), who are organizing the event, said.
The aim of the forum is to continue the public discussions about the problems that need to be addressed to improve the business environment and investment climate in Bulgaria.
The main message is that the business community perceives the rule of law as a foundation for future economic development in Bulgaria. The upcoming conference is another opportunity for businesses to have their voices heard and for business organisations to contribute to improving the business climate in Bulgaria, AmCham said.
Invited to participate are caretaker Justice Minister Krum Zarkov, US Ambassador to Bulgaria Herro Mustafa, Matthew Murray - an international expert on innovating solutions to systematic corruption and former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Representatives from other bilateral chambers of commerce in Bulgaria, NGOs, business organizations, and academics will also participate.
The conference will discuss the impact of certain systemic issues that undermine the rule of law in this country and impede economic development, as well as needed reforms that would have a positive effect on the economic environment.
The conference endorsed by the British-Bulgarian Business Association, Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, Confindustria Bulgaria, French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, German-Bulgarian Industrial Trade Chamber, Hellenic-Bulgarian Business Council, Swedish Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
