The number of people employed under labour or civil service contracts in Bulgaria’s executive branch administration reached 98,600 at the end of September 2025, shows data for the third quarter of 2025, published on the National Statistical Institute (NSI) website here on Friday. Of these, 56,300 (57.1%) work in the central administration and 42,300 (42.9%) in the territorial administration.
NSI data show that at the end of September 2024 the number of employees in the administration was 99,100, of whom 56,500 (57%) were in the central administration and 42,600 (43%) in the territorial administration.
Employees in non-financial enterprises at the end of the third quarter of 2025 numbered 1.6 million, an increase of 0.9% compared to Q3 2024. In industry (including mining, manufacturing, electricity and heat production and distribution, gas supply, and water collection, treatment and supply), total employment reached 498,700, which is 1.6% lower than in the third quarter of 2024. In business services (excluding trade, financial and insurance activities), employment stood at 565,300 - an increase of 1.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to NSI data, employees in non-financial enterprises at the end of Q3 2024 were 1.06 million, up 0.2% compared to the third quarter of 2023.
