The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and 199 Theatre signed a partnership agreement at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia on Monday.

“BTA has systematically covered 199 Theatre over the years, but it is true that before the establishment of our LIK department about knowledge, culture and education, there were one or two articles a year, mostly about premieres. Since 2022, these reports have been growing. Last year there were 15 of them and this year there are 24 already," BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said.

"The big idea of this agreement is for you to systematically, weekly, send information about various theatre-related topics, so that we can keep track of the process of the staging of new plays, of new stars coming to the theatre. An important point is copyright settlement. BTA is trying to set an example to all Bulgarian media that when we use materials, for example from your theatre, like photos and videos, the copyright will be settled," Valchev said. “Finally, the big occasion is the 60th anniversary of 199 Theatre, to which BTA will be a media partner,” he added.

Boyan Zhelyazkov, head of 199 Theatre, thanked BTA for the long-standing partnership and expressed hope that it will continue and be just as fruitful as before. “Thank you for paying attention to Bulgarian culture and art, and for trying and being determined to settle copyright in a fair way, as this is an important aspect of the fair coverage of events,” Zhelyazkov added.
