An exhibition by Italian artist Nicola Strada will open on June 12 at the L44 art space in Sofia, the organizers from Lobster Gallery said on Tuesday. Titled How’s the Weather There?, the show centres around Dachi (short for Tomodachi, the Japanese word for "friend"), a recurring character in Strada’s work. Playful, tender, and just the right amount of quirky, Dachi invites viewers to check the weather inside him, and perhaps within themselves, the organizers said.

“This is Nicola Strada’s first solo exhibition and a distillation of his creative world -playful, personal, and caring,” the gallery noted.

This is the first solo exhibition by Nikola Strada, which also serves as a summation of his entire body of work – playful, personal, and caring. At the same time, How’s the Weather There? combines objects, sculpture, neon, tufting (in collaboration with Alexandra Kamburova), and printed works. Through these media, Dachi encourages us to pause for ourselves, our emotions, and the need to take care of our inner climate.

Nicola Strada, born in Bari in 1994, now lives and works between Turin and Rome. He began exploring 3D modeling while studying law, initially aiming to create toys, but this soon evolved into making statues and animations. In 2023, he co-founded the creative studio GOOFBALL and more recently, the collective Wabbit. Nicola has just released a comic book about cereals titled Che Hai Fatto Oggi?
