site.btaThe Mission Gallery to Host Exhibition with Paintings by Bulgarian Masters

An exhibition entitled The Energy of the Spirit of Innovation will be unveiled at Sofia's The Mission Gallery on May 16, the organizers from the State Institute for Culture with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and St. Cyril and St. Methodius International Foundation said. Visitors will see paintings by Bulgarian artists from the Foundation's collection curated by Prof. Dr Chavdar Popov.

The organizers reported that the paintings have been selected to represent various aspects and trends in Bulgarian art from the last decades of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The exhibition includes works by Hristo Simeonov, Sava Savov, Andrey Daniel, Magda Abazova, and others.

Popov said: "Our art faces new perspectives and horizons, which in the conditions of the then social system largely aligned Bulgarian artists' work, paradoxically at first sight, with the achievements of modern art. In this sense, in the context of the era we can see traits and evidence of discovery, and we can rediscover little-known works by distinguished masters of the brush."
