The National Archeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM-BAS) will host an international conference on European Military Affairs and the Bulgarians between the 6th and 17th Centuries – Conflicts, Contacts, and Influences in Sofia from May 14 to 18, the organizers said on Monday.
The academic conference will focus on the direct involvement of Bulgarians in military affairs and on influences across the Eurasian area in medieval equipment and armaments.
Presentations will be held on May 15 and 16 in the conference hall of NAIM-BAS. Keynote speakers will be Prof. Taxiarchis Kolias, Assoc. Prof. Valeri Yotov, and Assoc. Prof. Deyan Rabovyanov. A total of 35 scholars from Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Georgia will take part in the conference.
The event is being held as part of the National Research Programme Development and Promotion of Bulgarian Studies Abroad, the organizing team noted.
