The administration of North Macedonia’s Sar Planina National Park on Thursday warned of avalanche danger above 1700 metres above sea level within the park’s territory. An avalanche was recorded there on Wednesday. No buried people were found.

The combination of weather conditions, including air temperature, wind direction and strength, and snowfall in recent days, which, together with the terrain’s relief characteristics, create conditions for instability in the snow cover and a high risk (Level 4) of avalanches.

The management of Sar Planina National Park urges visitors not to move towards the higher parts of the mountain without an escort who is a qualified and professionally trained person. “Visitors should report their visit in good time via the park’s official website,” the management said.
