On the occasion of Europe Day, May 9, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Thursday organized a screening of a 3D mapping on the Agency's building in Sofia, titled "14 Centuries Bulgaria in Europe, 20 Years of the Treaty of Accession to the European Union."

The event was part of the Europe on the Balkans: Cohesion Skills project, implemented by BTA with the support of the European Commission.

The screening featured footage showcasing Bulgaria’s natural beauty, including the Seven Rila Lakes and the Belogradchik Rocks, as well as the renowned Panagyurishte Gold Treasure. Scenes from Bulgarian history and its role within the European Union were also presented. The overarching message of the screening was: “For millennia a crossroads of civilizations, cultures, and peoples, this country belongs to Europe.”

Speaking before the screening, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said: “Our main aim is to show that the Balkan countries, including Bulgaria, are not just recipients of EU funding, they are contributors as well.”

Among the guests was Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, who also addressed the audience before the screening. “It is young people who are writing the new pages of the European Union’s history,” she said, noting that that May 9 is not only Europe Day, but a celebration of unity.

Students from several schools in Sofia attended the event, including the Saint Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher National High School for Ancient Languages and Cultures, the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School, and the National Vocational School of Polygraphy and Photography.

In line with the BTA’s internal policy for building façade lighting, the agency’s building was illuminated in blue - its signature color. On Bulgaria’s national day (March 3), the building is lit in the national flag’s colors. On other significant occasions, including commemorative days of organizations to which Bulgaria belongs, the façade lighting reflects appropriate colors and symbols.
