The exhibition "The Spiritual Universe of Queen Marie" of the Romanian DAR Development Association is a guest of The Palace Cultural Centre in Balchik. This is the first in a series of events at the cultural institute dedicated to the 100th anniversary of its founding, The Palace Director Zheni Mihaylova told journalists on Tuesday.

The exhibition includes many photographs, archival documents, excerpts from the diaries and personal belongings of Queen Marie, as well as traditional costumes worn by the Romanian elite. They can be viewed until 12 May.

Among the partners of the exhibition are the National Archives of Romania, the National History Museum of Romania, the museums in Bran and Iasi and private collections.

"The exhibition features photographs from 6 visits of Queen Marie during the last 11 years of her life, a period in which she outlived her husband Ferdinand I of Romania and sought peace and tranquility in Balchik. With this exhibition, we are bringing the spirit of Queen Marie back to Balchik," said DAR Development Association President Alexandra Brutaru.

A total of 90 different events will mark the 100th anniversary of The Palace, the director said. They include exhibitions, concerts and performances.
