The British Museum in London will organize an evening dedicated to Bulgaria, celebrating the country's heritage, on June 23. The event, presented in partnership with the London Bulgarian Choir and Folklore ensemble Bulgaria - London and the Bulgarian Embassy in London, is part of the public programme supporting the exhibition Luxury and power: Persia to Greece.

The London Bulgarian Choir will open the event with a free performance in the Great Court.

The British Museum published on its website: "The London Bulgarian Choir will take you on a journey around this beguiling country in song. This award-winning ensemble, led by Dessislava Stefanova, delivers crunchy harmonies, wonky beats and exuberant trills, woven into timeless tales of love and loss, freedom-fighting and celebration. The choir's playful and passionate performances transcend language barriers and stir the emotions. Founded in 2013 by choreographer Iva Kostova, Folklore ensemble Bulgaria – London celebrates Bulgarian folklore through energetic dances and traditional costume, providing a colourful and lively performance."

While this part of the programme is free, places are given on a first-come, first-served basis, which is why the organizers advice is to book a free timed ticket in advance.

The second part of the evening will include a talk on The Gold of Thrace: The Panagyurishte Treasure by Prof Boni Petrunova, Director of the National Museum of History (NMH) in Sofia.

The official unveiling of the exhibition Luxury and power: Persia to Greece at the British Museum on May 3 was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, then Culture Minister Nayden Todorov, Bulgaria's Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland Marin Raykov and Petranka Nedelcheva of the NMH.
