site.btaEducation Minister: Freedom of Expression Is the Human Right Most Closely Linked to the Media
"The human right most closely linked to the media is the right to freedom of opinion and expression. Freedom of expression shows us how important this right is for people to strive for self-expression and dignity," a congratulatory address from caretaker Education and Science Minister Sasho Penov to BTA Director-General Kiril Valchev said. The address was part of the opening of the 18th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media, organized by BTA in Kazanlak.
"This freedom is important for communities and societies as a whole to make progress, achieve equality, democracy and self-governance. Freedom of expression is important in its own right and is a prerequisite for the enjoyment of a whole range of other rights and freedoms," Penov added.
Pointing out that he highly appreciates his cooperation with Valchev and BTA, the Education Minister further said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the active support you give to the coverage of the initiatives and events of the Bulgarian Sunday schools around the world. The Agency's contribution to the promotion of these schools' activities is enormous. I congratulate all the participants in the conference and wish them success and creativity in their work," Penov added
