Spanish EFE Agency's news podcasts received the Maxim Minchev Award award of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) for their quality and innovation, EFE reported. The Maxim Minchev Award was also given to British agency PA Media for a data analysis project, EANA said on its website.
The EANA award was instituted in 2005. In 2021 it was named after the late BTA director general Maxim Minchev (1953-2020).
The award was presented during the EANA General Assembly. It was accepted by EFE's innovation coordinator, Javier Marin, who praised the Spanish news agency's "great audiovisual team and its great efforts" behind the "seemingly small audio projects".
EFE's short three-minute podcasts, which are published daily on the top audio platforms, including Spotify, Amazon Music, Itunes and Google, are packed with information and tell the top news stories of the day in direct and lively language.
The award is presented by a jury including the directors of the organization and the presidents and CEOs of France's AFP, Austria's APA, Bosnia's FENA and Britain's PA, EFE said. The award has a purse of CHF 1,000.
