site.btaBTA to Provide LIK Typeface to Interested Publishers, Says BTA Director General
Speaking at the Golden Lion awards for publishing achievements on Tuesday evening, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) has developed a Bulgarian Cyrillic typeface, which it is ready to make available to all publishers interested in using it. It is already being used by a number of state institutions, he said.
Valchev noted that the LIK typeface can be seen at BTA's press club during the Book Fair, organized by the Bulgarian Book Association, where BTA's LIK magazine is also being showcased. BTA is a media partner of the Association and has a mobile national press club at the fair, which will run until December 14.
"In collaboration with the Bulgarian Book Association, we are working to create a dedicated book section as part of our four-year-old news feed, also named after the LIK magazine. But we need your help: it is enough to send us annotations, photos of the covers, and we would be grateful to receive the books you have published. We insist these be works by Bulgarian authors, about Bulgaria, or translations of special significance," Valchev said.
He added that the books sent to BTA will go towards enriching its library of over 90,000 volumes, now housed in new premises. From next year, BTA is planning to invest in acquiring literature, as was done until the 1990s.
